With all the extra time spent inside during the last few weeks (and more to come), it’s no surprise that many of us are turning to board games to help fill the time and bond with family. We asked our Instagram community what their favorite board games are and here are the most recommended:
Easy enough for kids to play but challenging enough for adults to enjoy too. Described as a combination of bingo and poker.
A game of strategy and secret missions! This game is filled with “betrayal, alliances, and surprise attacks”. A classic that’s been around for over 30 years.
This new-to-us game won the prestigious “Game of the Year” award at the 2019 Toy of the Year Awards. Choose your iconic Disney villain - each one comes with their own objectives and goals. A great gift for Disney lovers!
Classic and easy! Also great because you can play with 2-10 players so it works with a big crowd.
Another classic that’s been around for decades! Play the original or try one of the many themes available - Game of Thrones, Frozen, Star Wars, etc. Bonus: helps kids learn to count money! Many editions now have a “speed die” option for a quicker game.
Ticket to Ride (box says 14+ but my 9 year old played it and enjoyed it)
Easy to learn and fun to play! Players collect train cars they use to claim railway routes. This game quickly becomes addicting! Plus kids learn geography while they’re at it.
Easy enough for younger kids (box says 6+) but fun for adults and older siblings too. A good mix of strategy, luck and revenge!
This game has the potential to be boring for older kids, but nothing beats this for the younger ones! No reading required, and who doesn’t like candy?!
A fun and easy game for all ages. Could also double as math/counting practice - a win-win!
With so many options, if you have a deck of cards the possibilities are endless! Some favorites to try: Spades, Gin, Blackjack (helps with counting!), Solitaire
