Ali Hynek: Mom of Triplets

This week we chatted with Ali Hynek, Founder and Creative Director, Nena & Co.

TINY TAGS: You have shared that you went through IVF for three years. Did that journey bring you and Jeremy closer together?

ALI: Absolutely it did. Infertility treatment was hard emotionally, financially, and physically. You NEED one another. We cried tears of pain and tears of joy together through this process.

TINY TAGS: What was your reaction when you found out you were having triplets? How did you tell your families?

ALI: It was the biggest shock of our lives! I almost didn’t believe it. I was incredibly scared to be honest. We called both sets of parents after we left our doctor’s office to let them know the news!

TINY TAGS: What has been the greatest joy since becoming a mother of triplets?

ALI: Being able to love and care for such perfect beings has been the greatest honor. To know that God has trusted me with three gifts from heaven at the same time is incredible to me.

TINY TAGS: What has been the most challenging part as a mom of triplets?

ALI: The hardest part so far was the initial sleep deprivation, but luckily we have moved way beyond that now and they all sleep 12 hours a night! I think another hardship is the amount of money you have to spend on basic needs like diapers!

TINY TAGS: How do you balance running your company, Nena & Co., and being a mom?

ALI: I have to rely on a lot of help on a daily basis. I have a lot of family around and a full time household assistant that is with me at the house during the day. While the babies sleep, I work and my assistant helps me with household responsibilities. I try and hire really well. We went through a lot of people before we found the right people for each different position. I’m hoping they can all stay with Nena & Co. as the company grows. I don’t think we’ve ever had a Nena crew as amazing as we do now!

TINY TAGS: Your company, Nena & Co., is very committed to being socially responsible and supporting the artisans in Guatemala?  Would you share with us how Nena & Co. is making a difference.

ALI: We focus on sustainability of materials used but also ethical business practices. It is uncommon to find a manufacturer that pays fair wages but also offers paid vacation/time off and full benefits to those that qualify in third world countries and that is something we pride ourselves in. We also partner with local hospitals to help provide supplies when they are in need.

TINY TAGS: Mother’s Day was on May 14, what has been the greatest lesson your mom has taught you?

ALI: My mother always taught me to have hope and determination. She is a great example of both and has given me her shoulders to lean on when I didn’t have the strength.

TINY TAGS: Describe your perfect day.

ALI: My perfect day would be to sleep in then wake up to a clean house, love on the babies while they drink their morning milk then make a yummy breakfast for all of us. We’d take the babies to do something outside where we could all get some sun on our skin. That sounds so nice!
