Five Tips for Buying Your Wife the Jewelry She Wants
The holidays are quickly approaching, and we often get questions from dads about how to choose a gift for the women in their lives. Sometimes, you get lucky and she sends you a link with size and color preferences. But there are times you want to surprise her and feel confident she will love it. Here are our Top 5 Tips for buying jewelry for your wife.
1. Learn what kind of jewelry she wears now
This seems obvious but it’s easy to overlook. If you want to know her style, look at what she already has in her jewelry box. Does she wear mostly gold or silver? Is her style dainty or does she like statement pieces? Does she wear small stud earrings or larger hoops?
2. Listen
Chances are, at some point over the last year, she made a comment about something she likes or wishes she had. Were you watching TV together and there was a commercial for something she liked (or didn’t like)? Did she compliment a friend on her jewelry? Has she made comments about style or something that would go well with her clothes? Hopefully it goes without saying that you want to buy her what she likes, not what you like.
3. Budget
When buying jewelry for anyone, budget will obviously be a factor. Whenever possible, we recommend going for a forever piece; 14k gold is not only beautiful - it’s easy to care for and wears well. Sterling silver is also a great choice that will last. Confused about the different gold options? We have a blog post all about it!
4. Get sentimental
Anyone can buy someone something shiny, but when jewelry has a story and purpose behind it, it becomes meaningful. Tiny Tags uses laser engraving - which doesn’t damage the metal and creates a fine, smooth finish. It also allows us to engrave the back of our pieces. Our favorite back engravings include wedding and birth dates, wedding songs, bible verses, coordinates and more! Check out this post for some ideas to make your piece extra special.
5. Ask a Friend
When all else fails - ask her bestie! I personally send my best friend 3-4 options that I'd love to receive. Sure, it might not be a total surprise, but at least you know she will love what you're buying. We have a 'Drop A Hint' button on every Tiny Tags product page, so our mamas can send their friends or hubbys their wish list!
