Peace in the Middle of a Storm
Ella is a beautiful, bright, and bubbly two year old little girl who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia with a rare genetic component in June of 2022, just seven days shy of her second birthday. My whole world just seemed to crumble. I could never have imagined this happening to my daughter.
In the three months that we’ve been fighting this terrible disease, Ella has truly shown her strength and determination. Ella is currently in remission and although the road is long and uncertain to being cured, we’re ready to continue on and experience all of what life has to offer together.
Even before Ella’s diagnosis, I fell in love with the Tiny Tags company. After my daughter was born, I chose a Gold Mini Dog Tag Necklace with her name and birthstone to wear. While I always loved this necklace, I never knew how special it would be until one day in the beginning of Ella’s treatment. After undergoing many procedures and treatments with an inconsolable child, I’d often have to hold her in my lap until she would calm down. One day, she just wrapped her hands around the Tiny Tags and together we just held the necklace and spelled her name over and over until she began to relax. I couldn’t believe that something so simple could have such a tremendous effect. It’s something that has since become a ritual for us before or during anything that frightens her.
I haven’t taken this necklace off since the day I got it and I’m certain I never will. Each time I see myself in the mirror or just touch the necklace around my neck I can’t help but smile. I’ve since had a little boy and I can’t wait to add his special Tiny Tags so that it represents the things most important to me, my children and family. I know the future is bright for Ella and I can’t wait for the day that she too can proudly wear her own special Tiny Tags Necklace.
