They Deserve More
My daughter, Callie, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in July of 2019. Never did I ever think that this would ever happen to my child. It is truly every parent’s worst nightmare. She underwent chemotherapy for 3 years along with immunotherapy and radiation. Thankfully, she is cancer free and thriving today like every child should be, but that sad truth is that many are not.
I have the bar necklace with my daughter's name on the front of it and my favorite bible verse on the back of it, so I can always have my daughter and God close to my heart wherever I may go. It signifies the strength my daughter showed while receiving cancer treatment, as well as how faithful and good God is.
Childhood cancer is unfortunately way more common than anyone wants to believe and most of the treatments that are given to kids are meant for adults and haven’t been updated since the 1970s. Many of the treatments also have grueling side effects that can last a lifetime. Barely any of our government funding is allotted to finding new treatments and cures for these kids.
They deserve more, and we need to do our part in helping these kids have a better future! Together we must fight to end childhood cancer!
