My Dragonfly

Sometimes we find things that seem like more than just an ordinary object. For me, my Tiny Tags Dragonfly necklace was that - something I truly believe was meant to be.
Back in October, I found a dragonfly necklace on clearance for around $12. I bought it along with a pack of gum, and my total came to $17.06. That might seem random, but my grandpa’s birthday was June 17th. Right away, I felt like this necklace was meant to be mine.
My grandpa passed away when I was seven, but he was like a father to me. We had three big things in common—swimming, Sponge-bob Squarepants, and the Los Angeles Dodgers. After he passed, swimming in his pool wasn’t the same. But every time we swam, a dragonfly would show up. My family started seeing dragonflies at random times, and we always took it as a sign that he was still with us. Once, at Universal Studios, I saw Sponge-bob with a dragonfly flying around him. It was little moments like that that made me believe it was more than just a coincidence.
I wore my necklace every single day. I even wore it to my first Dodgers postseason game, then my second, and then, when they won the World Series this past year. It became something special, almost like my grandpa was with me through it all.
But a few weeks ago, it broke off while I was at my school farm. I was so upset because that necklace had truly been through so much with me in just a few short months. I ordered a replacement from Amazon, but it wasn’t the same. It tarnished almost immediately, while my original necklace had stayed perfect for months.
Then last week, something crazy happened. I was feeding my sheep like I do every day. It’s been raining a lot lately, and I stepped in a puddle. When I lifted my foot, I saw something shiny under the water. My necklace. After weeks of being lost, it was just sitting there, completely fine! Even after being in mud, dirt, and water for weeks after rain. The only defect was one little broken chain link.
At this point, I knew I had to reach out to Tiny Tags. This necklace has meant so much to me, and I want to keep wearing it. Even if I couldn’t get it fixed, I just wanted to share this story because I truly believe things happen for a reason. I reached out hoping they could help restore the necklace, and I was honestly blown away by the customer service. Betsy responded quickly and was so kind and understanding. She truly cared about my story and did everything she could to help me. It wasn’t just a basic customer service response, it felt personal, like she genuinely wanted to make things right, and I really appreciated that! It’s rare to find a company that values its customers like this, and it made me appreciate Tiny Tags even more.
Sometimes, things are more than just things. And sometimes, signs are real. This necklace was a small way for me to be reminded he was everywhere with me, even if not physically. You just have to notice the signs, even the littlest things can make a big impact.
