My Sun, Moon, and Stars

I have a Tiny Tags with all my kids' names and birthdates, as well as one with my husband and I's initials + our wedding date on the back. I absolutely love those pieces, and when Tiny Tags started making lockets, I knew I had to have one too. 

The words I chose to engrave on my locket (which I prefer to wear facing out instead of the front of the locket), come from an EE Cummings poem (#38) that reads “yours is the light by which my spirit’s born: yours is the darkness of my soul’s return— you are my sun, my moon, and all my stars.” Beside my bed I have a picture frame with this last line on it, which holds a photo of my kids. The picture in the frame reminds me of a beautiful sunny day by the beach. A lot of our best memories are on the water. 

My daughter is my sun—a powerful bright light that brings warmth and comfort everywhere she goes. My son is my moon. I have walked many difficult nights with him, but even with all of the obstacles we have faced, his light has always remained in the darkness. My husband is my stars—a roadmap along my journey that has kept me grounded, safe, and on course. These three are my whole world.
