They Needed Me, And I Needed Them
We have always wanted to adopt, but became more serious after we struggled with infertility for 6 years. I really have always wanted to experience a pregnancy but more importantly, I wanted to be a mama. I had always been the fun aunt to my sisters kids or the NICU nurse watching over other people's babies when they couldn’t be with them, but I truly desired to be the one that could comfort my own kids like only a mom can.
Adoption has impacted my life in so many ways, but I think the biggest way is that it helped me realize that being a mom is so much more than giving birth. I chose to mother my girls every day even before I was officially their mom — because I knew they needed me and I needed them. I could provide the love, safety, and care that they needed. Adoption is a love that goes beyond anything I’ve ever experienced. My kids will always know that they are loved, worthy and that I choose them every day. Adoption is what made me a mama.
