John…My Love…

I met the Love of My Life, John, after mutual friends tried for a year to introduce us. Our love journey was short, too short, but amazing! Our first date was on March 4, 2017, we got engaged on April 23, 2018, then married on December 1, 2018 and I lost John on August 10, 2019. Ironically that was the original date we were to be married before his lung cancer diagnosis.

John was so full of life, passionate about his children, his sports teams, good food, red wine & bourbon. He exercised, ate only organic healthy foods and never smoked. The diagnosis came out of the blue and forever changed our lives.

The love we shared was once in a lifetime, we just clicked when we met and were inseparable after that. Spending time walking trails, running, going out to dinner, teaching me to cook and just enjoying every minute together. He became my rock after many years of being alone. We only had 2 ½ years but so much love was shared in that short time. This is what helps me through the grief…knowing I was loved for all I am and the love was returned to John in abundance. He took his last breath while in my arms and left this earth surrounded by the people who loved him the most.

I wear my John tag everyday with his wedding band circling it. It makes a soft jingling sound to remind me he’s still with me. My Tiny Tags helps me carry John close to my heart, where his memory and amazing love will always be.
