- Tell us about your mom.
My mom is caring, thoughtful, independent, and super fun. She also never holds back with her opinions, which gets her in trouble sometimes!
- What is your relationship like with her? Has your relationship changed now that you’re a mom?
My mom is everything to me. She’s my best friend, my therapist, my biggest cheerleader, my motivation, and my support system. When my husband and I had our first child, my mom and I became even closer, which I didn’t think was possible! We asked her to be our nanny, and she said yes. I feel lucky that I get to spend time with her every day and my son is being looked after by his Bubby.
- How did you come up with Bubby as a nickname?
Bubby is the Yiddush word for grandmother. It’s what I called my late grandmother Bubby Rose (my mother’s mother) and my mom took on the title now that she’s a grandmother, too.
- What were your favorite traditions growing up? Are you planning to carry these traditions forward with your children?
Every year for Hanukkah, we made decorations that reflected our accomplishments of the year. By the time I was 18, the decorations covered many walls of my childhood home. This year, I carried on the tradition and started a Hanukkah wall in my home, and it was so special.
- What does your Tiny Tags necklace mean to you?
My Tiny Tags necklace is a delicate, subtle reminder that my family is always with me — one charm features my husband’s and my initials with our anniversary date and the other is my son’s initial with his birth date. My mom’s bar necklace says Bubby on it. They are both so unique, and we love wearing them. In fact, my mom has not taken it off since I gave it to her!
